Water Supply in Kovie
In the rural town Kovie in Togo, access to water is scarce. Water is mainly collected through rainwater harvesting, or fetched from a river 5km away. Water-borne diseases are common in Kovie, especially affecting infants and elders. Access to clean water is an important aspect for improving the health conditions for the local community.
This project establishes water supply to a health clinic in Kovie. In cooperation with local partner PRODECK, the clinic is connected to the water and electricity supply system in a neighbouring town, and the project establishes water taps and electrical installation inside the clinic.
Access to clean water at the clinic significantly improves health-care services for the local community, and improves living conditions for about 6,000 people. Additionally, safe and clean water reduces the spread of water-borne diseases, further improving the health conditions for the community.
The project contributes to clean water and sanitation in compliance with the current UN Sustainable Development Goals.
