School Construction Project

The village of Norway is situated in the rural area of the eastern part of SL, ca. 335 km from the capital Freetown. Nearest city is Kenema (about 10 km). The area is sparsely populated. Four villages - Hangha, Tissor, Turild Town and Elise's Town - are located within 5 km from Norway. The largest of these is Hangha who has approx. 3-4,000 inhabitants. Norway has approx. 250 inhabitants. The other three villages have between 500 and 1,500 inhabitants. The residents of Norway and Elise's town are war amputees. Sierra Leone is a very poor country, and the main hope lies in education of the next generation.

This project construct a school with latrine facilities and accommodation for teachers. EWB-SL and EWB-DK cooperate on construction, while cooperation with SUG ensures the running of the school, and organisation of teachers to administrate the school in the future.

The project contributes to quality education and clean water and sanitation in compliance with the current UN Sustainable Development Goals.
