Many years of war have resulted in a major setback with the update of laws, standards and plans of the Liberian Ministry of Public Works. Many of the earlier registrations and records are missing and need to be reconstructed. Similarly, the war has been the cause of a lack of education and thus qualified workers in the civil service.

The technical support provided by EWB-DK was in cooperation with other local and international NGOs and the UN with local officials to begin restoring and updating the public administration of the Ministry EWB -DK posted an experienced engineer to Liberia with back end support from a expert team in Denmark, who could contribute with their expertise.
