In January 2010, an earthquake hit near Haiti’s biggest city, Port-au-Prince. In cooperation with Danish People’s Aid, an EWB-DK volunteer was sent to Haiti for six months in February, to help with rehousing of homeless families in the Carrefour area. In May, another two volunteers were on Haiti for six weeks, providing technical assistance for the building of shelters for families in need. In July, two more volunteers arrived, also providing assistance in building of shelters.
EWB-DK, in cooperation with Danish People’s Aid, helped build 400 shelters for rehabilitation of families in need.
The project contributes to sustainable cities and communities in compliance with the current UN Sustainable Development Goals.
